Cookies Guide: Things to Do on Fremont Street

Shop Cookies Vegas

There is a reason why Fremont Street is an integral part of the Las Vegas experience. Technically speaking, it was the very first street in Vegas, and it hosted the first telephone line, casino, and movie theatre. Fremont Street was also the first paved street in Las Vegas, dating back to 1925, and it quickly became the center of commerce with a vibrant, although illegal, gambling scene before gambling was legalized in the area.

Fremont Street, mere minutes from the Las Vegas strip, is dripping in all that scandalous lore and legend that built Sin City. As Las Vegas locals, we’d love to take you on a trip to the Original Las Vegas Strip to check out the must-see destinations this little corner of the city has to offer. Whether you are here for the week or the weekend (or longer – we don’t judge), let us take you on a tour of Fremont Street, the city’s historic center.

The Best Things to Do on Fremont Street, Las Vegas

Much of the entertainment on Fremont Street is actually part of the Fremont Street Experience, a wildly entertaining pedestrian mall located in downtown Las Vegas. It occupies the westernmost five blocks of Fremont Street, an area formerly known as “Glitter Gulch.”

1. The Viva Vision Light Show

The Viva Vision Light Show is a spectacular (and spectacularly free) attraction at the Fremont Street Experience in downtown Las Vegas. In fact, as the world’s largest video screen, it is the centerpiece of the Fremont Street Experience.

This massive display measures 1,375 feet long, 90 feet wide, and is suspended 90 feet above the pedestrian mall. It features 49.3 million LED lights and a 600,000-watt sound system, creating an immersive audiovisual experience for visitors.

The featured light shows run every night at the top of each hour from 6:00 PM to 1:00 AM. Expect music videos, tributes to your favorite bans, and other special events.

2. Free Live Entertainment: Music, Comedy, and More

Yes, you heard that right. The Fremont Street Experience hosts many free events and festivals throughout the year across three stages.

Check out the totally free Downtown Rocks Free Concert Series, with live music every night from local favorites like Spasmatics, Atomic Radio, and the Tony Marques Band. The Viva Vision Light Show features music videos, tributes to your favorite bands, and other special events.

Before the show starts at 6 PM, swing by Cookies Flamingo to elevate your pre-game with a couple of pre-rolls or a six-pack of infused cannabis drinks.

3. Slotzilla Zipline: An Adrenaline Rush Like No Other

Nothing quite screams Vegas than SlotZilla zipline. Inside the Fremont Street Experience is the world’s largest slot machine, but it’s also an 11-story zipline that shoots you out and down the pedestrian mall for a psychedelic high-flying experience unlike anything else on earth.

You’ve got two ride options the Zip-Zilla (77 feet high, 850 feet long, seated) and the Super-Hero Zoom (114 feet high, 1,700 feet long, “superhero-style” position). Strap in because you can reach 35 miles per hour, especially on the Super-Hero Zoom.

For those who want to fly a little higher, we recommend pairing this experience with a little levity from Cookies. Before you take off, check out our exhaustive inventory of gummies, chocolates, and other edibles.

4. Heart Attack Grill: A Unique Dining Experience

You’ve seen it on television, and now you can check it out in real life: The Heart Attack Grill. This Fremont Street attraction is an infamous restaurant in Las Vegas. It’s made headlines around the world for its deliberately unhealthy menu and hospital-themed dining experience.

It’s best known for its extremely high-calorie, high-fat menu, including options like the Bypass Burger, which can contain up to 19,900 calories. Are those a few too many calories for you? You could also snack on some Flatliner Fries, which have been cooked in pure lard.

This place is one you’ll remember for the rest of your life, especially since it’s designed to resemble a hospital. Waitresses are dressed as “nurses,” and you are referred to as “patients.” Diners wear hospital gowns while eating.

You’ll definitely want to come hungry. Before you get ready for your triple-bypass surgery at the Heart Attack Grill on Fremont Street, find that perfect munchie-inducing strain at Cookies Flamingo.

5. Binion’s Million Dollar Display

Experience the thrill of being surrounded by a million dollars at Binion’s Million Dollar Display. Located inside Binion’s Gambling Hall, this display showcases one million dollars in cash, beautifully arranged for the perfect photo opportunity. Visitors can take free photos with the display, making it a memorable keepsake from their Las Vegas trip. Binion’s itself is steeped in history, having been a cornerstone of Fremont Street since 1951. After your photo op, explore the casino and enjoy the old-school Vegas vibe that Binion’s is known for.

6. Atomic Liquors

For those who appreciate a good drink in a historic setting, Atomic Liquors is a must-visit spot on Fremont Street. Known as the oldest freestanding bar in Las Vegas, Atomic Liquors has been serving patrons since 1952. The name comes from the bar’s history, where customers would watch atomic blasts from the roof.

Today, it offers a retro atmosphere with a wide selection of craft beers, cocktails, and delicious bar food. Whether you’re looking to unwind after a day of exploring or start your night with a bang, Atomic Liquors provides a unique blend of history and modern-day hospitality.
